Morocco’s Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) emerged as the largest party in the recent parliamentary election, winning 97 of the 395 seats in the House of Representatives, but fell well short of the 198 seats required for an absolute majority. Coalition negotiations with other parties are therefore expected as efforts to form the next government begin.
The election was the first since the mass migration attempts toward Ceuta in July and the Gen Z-led protests in 2025. The new government will face pressure to address concerns over employment, wages and socioeconomic conditions, while also overseeing major preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
